Do You Remember?

Hey, its Sally. Just a quick posting. Just to ask do you guys remember Grace? She went to Alton college last year (in my year), I know some of your guys are friends with her. Anyway, I attended her magazine's launch in early May & have just blogger the photos ( can see all of them here http://dressme-imyourmannequin.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/moda-de-la-mode-launch-party-at.html ). It was a great night at the Piccadilly Institute & I found it really inspiring meeting all her new contacts & seeing just what she's achieved in a year! Was hoping this will inspire everyone! I am also working through editing all the (good) photos from the Westminster graduate fashion show that I was invited to last Thursday, so keep your eyes peeled as I will be blogging them very soon!

A Week In The Life Of ____________

Hi, its Sally and for the last week, I guess you could say I've been a little busy. Note the underestimation within that sentence. I have been tying up - or rather sewing up - so many loose ends in both my book and my garments. And believe it or not I was not just enjoying the sun today, but multi-tasking, designing my exhibition space. So bellow are my designs, but to read more about them please go to http://dressme-imyourmannequin.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/planning-exhibition.html
And bellow are just a few photos of today's workspace, in my garden, enjoying the sunshine! And theres more photos to be seen here too http://dressme-imyourmannequin.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/we-all-come-out-when-sun-is-out.html
Previously in the week I also finished my first dress, which faith will be modelling for me, but bellow you can see a peek of it on me, to see more photos and the designs please got to http://dressme-imyourmannequin.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/numero-uno-design-2.html
And finally, guess who received an invitation to a London fashion show in the post last week . . . ME!!! http://dressme-imyourmannequin.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/planning-exhibition.html

Black or Gold, That Is The Question . . .

Hi, its Sally here with this cheeky preview of my current project comes some great responsibility for all my lovely readers. This is the dress I am currently working on, which will be COVERED in black & white print, making the eye dance about. But my question for YOU is should I pick black or gold beading? Let me explain a little more, on the left I have the original bodice, however I want to sew beading along the contour lines, as I have marked out on the right at the sides. I could use black which would add a subtle enhancement, but fit in with the black & white. OR I could go for gold to really put emphases on the main focus of my project, to add a classy touch and it would tie in all my three designs, with a gold touch! SO whats YOUR opinion? BLACK OR GOLD??? To see more of my progress, please go to http://dressme-imyourmannequin.blogspot.com

One Photo Tells A Thousand Words

As they say, one photo can tell a thousand words. So this is what I have been up to over the last few weeks, from the designs (which still needs the addition of watercolour), to creating my own patterns, to the making and finally the fitting of the toiles. A lot of work, but as I have already told somebody today, my work is also my hobby - I love it! So theres no complaint from me. Anyway hope you enjoy the browse through my photos. Inspirational Lines

Hey, its Sally here. Today I want to share with you a swimsuit that has been brought to my attention by several sources. Firstly illustrator Hayden Williams showed me his interpretation of the garment - which I fell in love with; then the same piece was featured in a magazine spread on the beautiful Lana Del Rey. The swimsuit in question is from the Prada SS12 collection, and I just love how the seam lines enhance the contours and curvature of the body, while the darker side panels creates a flattering slimming effect. With further research, I have found Lana has been fronting several Prada ensembles, she more of them here http://dressme-imyourmannequin.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/you-fit-me-better-than-my-favorite.html

And bellow is a sneak peek into my preparation of the making process of my three garments. To see more photos please visit my blog, as I have already written an essay for those particular photos http://dressme-imyourmannequin.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/my-needles-are-out.html
Anyway have a good long weekend everyone!!!

Not Out of Time!!

Why hello. Its Sally here again. And I am here to tell you I GOT MY PROJECT IN ON TIME!!! Shocking? I know! Not even needing a couple of hours extra on the day. I guess you could say that I don't go quite so over-the-top with interiors, as I do with my sketchbooks for fashion design. Never-the-less I did really enjoy the change from fashion to interior, for a couple of weeks before FMP, and before I began living, eating, breathing and sleeping fashion design (even more so than I do already). My interior project was based around driftwood; from my initial drawing (that took 27hrs) I came up with the print of which I covered my chair, walls and canvases in, for maximum clash! The chair itself I then veneered in my print (which took 21hrs) and then built up my own back to it too! So bellow are some of my final photos, taken within my own house. You can see the before & afters of my space, the paint splashing close up (of which I have videoed - just need to upload!) and the final photos of my space too. . .

Next piece of news I wish to share with you all, the exciting London happenings of this week. Firstly (through my blog Dress Me, I'm Your Mannequin ) I was invited to a talk at LCF about the AW12 collections, which - although it only lasted an hour - was crammed full of useful information and inspiring imagery. After writing at the speed of light (to keep up with the talk) I must of got at least 20pages of really in depth notes!! On that same Tuesday, Flo also took me along with her to her Lucy In Disguise work experience, where I was able to meet Sarah Owen and talk/show her through some of my designs - which she said she liked! :) Upon arriving back to Alton, I was greeted with another invite on Wednesday, this time to a Grazia & French Connections party this Thursday. My final exciting fashion news comes from Twitter. Yes Gayle I know you think Twitters a tad silly, which yes it is 90% of the time, but it can be a great tool for promotion, if used right. And I obviously have been using it to some effect, as this Friday my blog was preempted by Mercedes London Fashion Week (the sponsors of LCF) - which meant my blog was promoted to over 20,000 people that day! Happy Times!

And finally . . . I have been blogging like mad, after some advice from a friend "being a really dedicated blogger has been how I have achieved what I have achieved". So more dedication to my blog is in order! In the last week here are all my posts on runway/trend reports, fashion editorial reviews and on new designers. So please take a cheeky peek ;)
